On Monday 11 November, students from the Alpine School spent the day volunteering at a local revegetation site on the Ovens River/Great Valley Trail at Mills View, Smoko.

They removed corflute plastic tree guards from well-established trees, weeded around young trees and removed litter from the site.

It was great to see the students’ enthusiasm and energy for the task and the support provided by Alpine School staff.

Thanks too to Scott MacDonald from the North East Catchment Management Authority (NECMA), who gave an insight into his work to improve the conditions along the River, and to Yvonne Ward and Martyn Paterson from the Landcare Group.
