At last some decent rain, so the Landcare Group made a start on planting 600 indigenous trees and shrubs on th Ovens River, near One Mile Creek at Porepunkah. Last Sunday, 150 plants went into the ground. The next planting day is Saturday 22 June 2024.
Large woody weeds such as Box Alder, Poplar, Willows, Sycamare and blackberry were mechanically removed and are piled up waiting to be burnt. Weeds, such as Blackberry, Blue Periwinkle and Caper Spurge, have been sprayed with herbicide.
