The Upper Ovens Valley Landcare Group (UOVLG) celebrated important achievements at its Annual General Meeting.
One of these was the release of a Feral Deer Control Kit for the Upper Ovens Valley (and Greater North East Victoria). Funded via a Victorian Landcare Grant, auspiced through the North East Catchment Management Authority, and content developed by ABZECO (Applied Botany, Zoology and Ecological Consulting).
Also, during the year, the Group held regular working bees at various revegetation sites along the banks of the Ovens and Buckland Rivers. Approximately 7,000 endemic trees and shrubs have been planted since the Group’s inception in 1997.
A highlight of the night was an interesting presentation by Gill Anderson, who led a discussion of invasive species in Victoria’s eastern forests.
The Meeting also thanked the outgoing President, Peter Jacobs, for his significant contribution to the Group and to habitat restoration in the Upper Ovens Valley.
The 2023/24 Committee comprises: President: Graham Gales; Vice President: Martyn Paterson; Secretary: Jeanette McLaren; Treasurer: Simon Law; General Committee: Peter Jacobs, Robyn Guiney, Rodney McCracken, Yvonne Ward, Kaylee McKenzie, Gill Anderson, and Sarah Nicholas.
