Landcare’s Graham Gales, Joe Kenwright (pictured far right below) and Martyn Paterson joined a team from HVP and the Biik Land Management team, part of the Taungurung Land and Waters Council, in planting over 900 native trees and bushes. The plan is to produce a wildlife corridor linking Stackey Gully and Deep Creek above the Bright Valley Estate.
This land was previously held as a grazing lease, separate from the new housing development.
A fire corridor of cut grass and an access track will highlight the separation from the HVP Plantations pine trees.
Further native planting of wildlife corridors are planned by HVP as part of their stewardship strategy for the Ovens Valley.
