Thanks are due again to our dedicated Landcare volunteers who braved the wet weather during yesterday’s working bee at our Ovens-Buckland Rivers Revegetation Site. We checked approximately 600 trees/shrubs, staked when necessary and removed approximately 400 tree guards. Most trees are growing well. The Redgums are a little slower to take off and, to protect them from the deer traffic, will remain guarded for a while longer.

This site is on the western side of the Ovens River, downstream from the Buckland River junction. Access is from the Mount Buffalo Road. There is also a Landcare revegetation site, off Telford Lane, on the eastern bank of the Ovens River.

Funding has been gratefully received from the then Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning Biodiversity Action, North East Catchment Management Authority and donations from committed locals.

More photos from this and other sites are available on the website’s gallery page at this link.
